Cornell
Location: Ithaca, NY
Nickname: Big Red
Conference: Ivy League
Last Year’s Record: 21-10
Why they’ll make it: Cornell is entering this season as the favorite to win its third consecutive Ivy League title and with good reason. The top six players from last year’s rotation return and they are very talented. Guard Louis Dale won the league’s Player of the Year award in 2007-2008.
Forward Ryan Wittman is a two-time first-team all-conference selection, and center Jeff Foote is the reigning Defensive Player of the Year in the league. The Big Red finished three games better than the next best team in the Ivy last season. Expect that distance between it and the rest of the conference to increase.
Why they won’t make it: Let’s face it, it would take numerous injuries for this team to not make the NCAA tournament. All the Big Red needs to do is win the regular season title in the Ivy to qualify for the Big Dance. Coach Sydney Johnson has Princeton competitive again, but they don’t have nearly the firepower to challenge Cornell. It’ll be a complete shock if Cornell isn’t dancing.

So this means they have us pegged as the weakest 13-seed in the tournament. I dare say that might be selling us short. I think if the team really tears things up this year, and adds in a couple of big-time wins (I'm lookin' at you, Seton Hall and Alabama) a 12-seed is not out of the question.

Hope springs Eternal, but I would look for a higher seed, based on schedule, and newcomers stepping up. Could be a 8 or 9!!
Faulty math on seeding. This is the 64 best teams in the nation. A number of them will be BCS conference teams that will not be in the tournament due to a lack of at-large bids. They seem to have Cornell pegged for a higher seed than 13, since a bunch of the 51 teams ahead of them will not be NCAA bound.
Ah, I see. I haven't seen the full list, and I thought they were predicting the NCAA field, 1-65.

hey......a good 13 seed playing in the northeast(rather than anaheim or boise!!!)would be just fine. stay healthy and hungry and who knows....maybe a dreaded 12 seed for some unsuspecting bcs middling team!
