News and Notes: Early Evening Edition

Some news and notes...
  • The Sporting News, MassLive, and WEEI all have new pieces this afternoon on Boston College's coaching search. There is not much new information out there from what we previously posted except that sources tell us that Steve Donahue, Ed Cooley (Fairfield), and a third candidate, possibly Chris Mooney (Richmond), interviewed today and that two other coaches should be interviewed before the end of the week. These surces tell us that the two other interviews could go to Bill Coen (Northeastern) and Tommy Amaker (Harvard).
  • The Dagger on YahooSports lists "Sixty Five Things" they loved about the NCAA Tournament, including, "Cornell validating its season-long hype by shredding Temple and Wisconsin, two of the nation's better defensive teams."

Nice try BRF. While she would certainly give a thumbs down TO your gramatical error linking to her chat, Dana's actual comment was more a "thumbs sideways" in that she wasn't sure it was the right decision given Jerome's lack of coaching experience. Once again outstanding reporting by you. It must make you nervous that Jerome is the coach as you already need to try and tear him down.

To the obvious Penn fan at 10:37AM:

It must make you nervous that Penn has sucked the last 3 years.

It must also make you nervous in that Jerome did not do any better than Miller would have to end the season (aside from more fan, alumni, and player support; which is actually very important).

It must also make you nervous that the league is supposedly "wide open" next year; so Penn should do real well...but what if they don't? The wide open part is probably good for Jerome, b/c as long as he does an average job, he'll have an average record; most likely better than this year. Then you guys can celebrate how great a coach he is and that next year your recruits will be SO GOOD and you guys will be SO GOOD and Penn will return to the top again.

But, uh, 3 years ago when we first won the title, weren't you supposed to be back at the top by now? What happened? I thought the league was as bad as ever back then, and Penn could return to glory quicker than ever.

Oh man, to be a Penn fan, to be arrogant and believe unequivocally in your team, what a life. Unfortunately, I'm sure I'll get there someday too.

Good luck, next year is your (Penn's) year man! It's gotta be, right?
