News and Notes: Thursday Edition

Below, some news and notes for Thursday...
  • Speaking of videos, for die hard Cornell fans desperate to see a bit of Centenary transfer, Anthony Gatlin in action, a YouTube account has the entire contents of Gatlin's December 30, 2007 game at the University of Hawaii. Then a freshman for Centenary, Gatlin started the game, played 25 minutes and led all players in the game with 6 rebounds. He scored 2 points on 1/4 shooting, including a put-back basket at the 13:32 mark in the second half which tied the game at 42-42.
  • The NBA has added official draft profiles on its website for both Wittman and Foote.
  • After the Big Sky Conference dropped its Friday-Saturday night schedule format this year, a writer The Idaho State Journal notes:

The [Big Sky]wasn’t the only one in America to do it, of course, as the Ivy League has done it for decades. But the Ivy League and the Big Sky are two completely different animals. The two games in two days works there because the Ivy League is a geographically-condensed conference that could care less about athletics. In the Big Sky, while academics are important, athletics matter, too. The Ivy League has four sets of travel partners. Only one set is separated by more than 200 miles, Cornell and Columbia. In the Big Sky, which also had four travel partners, the only set less than 200 miles apart was Idaho State and Weber State.

If you go to the prospect list, it lists Lin & Wittman under "Small Conferences." They don't have the decency to just put "Ivy"???
