News and Notes: Tuesday Evening Edition

Below, some news and notes for Tuesday evening...
  • Cornell's Jeff Foote will workout for the Portland Trailblazers on June 16 per the franchise's twitter feed. Foote had his second workout with the Knicks today. Former teammate, Ryan Wittman also participated in the evaluation with the Knicks.
  • We've heard raving reviews about incoming Cornell recruit, Manny Sahota's performance last night at the All-Canada Classic.
  • The Daily Press notes that Steve Donahue gave Chrisopher Newport University's newest head coach his first position in coaching.

It's interesting that Portland brought Foote in considering they have 3 solid centers under contract. With Oden, Pryzbilla, and Camby, I am not really sure why they're even looking at centers unless they're planning to ship one of them out this fall.

what have you heard about Sahota? and if you actually have heard anything, please post

I can't believe Foote is getting this much attention, NBA teams must really love size. It seems like the 3 Ivy guys have each had 3 workouts so far:

Foote - Knicks twice, Blazers,
Wittman - Wizards, Kings, Knicks
Lin - Raptors, Knicks, Grizzlies

Good to see them getting the looks they deserve.

camby more of a pf, oden always hurt, pryzbilla no offensive game?

Wittman also worked out for the Nets... he has been with 4 teams.

Camby is 36 and has never played a full season.

Both Oden and Przybilla had season ending injuries in 2009-10. At age 30, Przybilla's patellar tendon rupture is career-threatening, if not career-ending.

It doesn't appear that the Blazers "have three solid centers under contract." At this point, I'd be looking if I were them.

I don't know about CBRF's report but I know the CanBallReport twitter feed (http://twitter.com/CanBallReport) tweeted about Sahota 3 times during the Canada All-Star game:

"Nice floater by Sahota on the baseline under pressure"

"Sahota is playing well finishing at the rack."

"Sahota answers with a 3 to put the white team up"

Seems like he was doing okay at least. Some guy named Kabongo sounded like a beast though, garnering much of the attention.
