News and Notes: Wednesday Edition

Below, some news and notes...
  • There was a very positive turnout last evening at the Ithaca Country Club for the public meet-and-greet reception with Coach Bill Courtney and his staff, which now officially includes assistants Marlon Sears and Jay Larranaga.
  • Speaking of recruiting prospects, the Big Red's incoming recruiting class is not officially complete. Cornell could be adding between one to two more players. Wink, wink.
  • The Daily Pennsylvanian mentions Jeff Foote's signing with Maccabi Tel Aviv. Like Wittman, Foote has had workouts with several NBA teams. Some points to keep in mind with respect to Foote. His Israeli contract does not preclude him from being drafted, nor would it preclude an NBA team from buying out his contract, which is not substantial in cost by NBA standards. Finally, since second round draft choices are virtually all long-term investment projects, Foote could easily be drafted by a team with the hope of signing him 1-3 years down the line.

I understand the merit of saying something like "wink, wink," but please, please, please don't drop any hints until a committment, or lack thereof, is imminent. It was just not entertaining to hear about a mystery recruit for months only to have him not commit.

I don't think readership is increased by hints completely devoid of any substance. I am going to keep reading the blog every day regardless.

Dude if they end up at Brown, I will just be pissed. Honestly, you should have a policy of just not talking about commits until it's a done deal, not even imminent ... what's his name was "imminent", didn't happen.

... I do hope one of the recruits is a center though. I know we can't replace Foote and I know Coury tries his best, but a heavy 6'10+ guy down low certainly would be nice.

In the mean time, I hope Aro and Josh Figini are eating their Wheaties and exchanging diet tips with Jeff Foote.

Albrecht was a done deal.

The only reason why it didn't happen was the coaching change.

Once there was a new coach, Albrecht changed his mind.

New addition(s) could help immediately.
