Recruiting News

Below, some recruiting news from around the Ivy League...

Kyle Noreen (Transitions HS) Minneapolis, MN, 6-5, F, has scholarship offers from Duquesne, Liberty, Lafayette, UTEP, and Northeastern according to Cornell, Penn, Princeton, Yale, Stanford, Iowa, Northwestern, Denver, Central Michigan, Cal Poly, Montana, Boise State, VCU, UM-Kansas City, Boston College, North Dakota, Lehigh, Bucknell, Bradley, Hartford, Iowa State, and Vermont have also all showed him varying levels of interest.

Full Court Press reports that Ryan Anderson (Poly HS) Long Beach, CA, 6-7, F, has interest from Cal, Gonzaga, San Diego State, Washington State, UCLA, Arizona, San Francisco, UNLV, Oregon State and Penn.

Eric Norman (Parker HS) San Diego, CA, 6-7, F, has a list of Yale, Harvard, Penn, Columbia, UC-Santa Barbara, Oregon, Fresno State, Portland, San Francisco, San Diego State and Hawaii.

Jerry Meyer of notes that Rosco Allen (Bishop Gorman HS) Las Vegas, NV, 6-7, F has offers from Arizona, Arizona State, BYU, Santa Clara, Northwestern, UNLV and USC, while Stanford and Harvard are also recruiting him.

Stephen Maxwell (Taft HS) Woodland Hills, CA, 6-5, F, is drawing attention from Washington, San Francisco, Montana and Penn.

Andre Hollins (White Station HS) Memphis, TN, 6-2, G, told that his revised school list includes, Stanford, Harvard, Ole Miss, Cincinnati, Penn, and Memphis.

A.J. Mathew (Huron HS) Ann Arbor, MI, 6-3, G, has an offer from FIU with interest coming in from Columbia, Colgate, Northwestern, and Cleveland State, among others per

Chasson Randle (Rock Island HS) Rock Island, IL, 6-3, G, appears to be moving away from considering Harvard as a college choice. He told Northstar Basketball Blog that Illinois, Purdue, Stanford, Duke, Kansas, and Georgetown are “the six mainly [involved]" his college recruitment. Randle did not indicate if another school could jump to the top of his list.

Derrick Henry (Newton HS) Covington, 6-3, G, told and that his dream is to play in the ACC. Thus far, he has reported offers from Richmond and Harvard, with interest from NC State, Alabama, Auburn, Miami, Clemson, Virginia Tech, and Virginia.

T.J. Taylor (Oakland HS) Oakland, CA, 5-9, G, told that he has offers from Harvard, Santa Clara, San Diego State and Boise State.

John Cannon (Mountain Heritage HS) Burnsville, NC 6-11, C, has offers from Princeton and UNC-Wilmington, while others involved include Harvard, Wake Forest, Indiana, Appalachian St., Western Carolina, UNC-Ashville, and Richmond among others.

Jeff Goodman notes that Kenyatta Smith (Flintridge Prep) La Canada, CA, 6-7, F, reminds him of former Pitt star, Dejuan Blair, because of Smith's powerful 265 lb. frame. Smith has interest from Pepperdine, Harvard, Penn, Princeton, UCLA and Stanford. reports that Alabama, Arkansas, Florida State, Miami, Michigan, Virginia Tech and Harvard have all offered Michael Frazier (Plant HS) Tampa, FL, 6-4, G.

Harvard offers to every high profile recruit. This means nothing--they will get none of these players in the end

It's about brand recognition, I think. If mid-profile recruits see top recruits regularly "considering" Harvard, they might be more amenable to picking Harvard over Davidson or something.
