Recruiting News

Below, some recruiting news around the Ivy League.

In class of 2010 news, Chris McNealy (Danville HS) San Ramon, CA, 6-3, G, told that he is headed to Cal-Irvine. He drew late interest from Columbia and attention from Penn, Yale, Davidson, and Santa Clara.

Competitive summer camps, showcases, clinics and AAU tournaments are the stages for the class of 2011 and a number of genuine Ivy League targets are becoming more and more visible.

Greg Lewis (Hanover HS) Mechanicsville, VA, 6-1, G, told that Cornell, Brown, Princeton, Columbia, Dartmouth, Yale, American, Old Dominion, Colgate, Wofford, Citadel, and William & Mary have all expressed interest thus far in his services.

The Citizen Times of Asheville, North Carolina reports that Cornell and Princeton have recently joined Harvard in offering roster spots to John Cannon (Mountain Heritage HS) Burnsville, NC 6-11. Cannon also has scholarship offers from Appalachian State, High Point, Richmond, UNC Asheville, USC Upstate and Western Carolina. But the high majors are also involved, with schools such as Stanford, Clemson, Wake Forest, Indiana and Utah also in the mix.

Reed McConnell (Sacred Heart Prep) Atherton, CA, 6-5, F, told that besides interest from Penn, Holy Cross, Lafayette and UC Davis, "Columbia and Brown have offered me." The son of a Dartmouth alum and with a 1940 SAT score and high grades, McConnell appears headed somewhere in the Ivy League.

In the words of, Andre Hollins (White Station HS) Memphis, TN 6-3, G "is said to be a heavy Stanford-lean." Hollins is Harvard's top prospect and the Crimson spent much of the last year courting the guard.

Kevin Bailey (Clovis HS) Clovis, CA, 6-4, G told he is hearing from Colorado (offer), Stanford, Arizona State, Harvard and Colgate.

A.J. Mathew (Huron HS) Ann Arbor, MI, 6-3, G told Michigan Preps that he has visited Cornell, Columbia, Colgate, Holy Cross, Fairfield, Lehigh and Toledo. He holds an offer from FIU.

Luke Hager (Whitney Young HS) Chicago, IL, 6-7, F told Chicago Hoops, “I went out to Boston this past weekend and just left on Tuesday. I went to both Harvard and Boston College’s elite camp. I also went to Northeastern, and toured the campus and facilities, met with the coaches, and kind of took everything in... With the Ivy League not offering athletic scholarships Harvard basically made the equivalent of an offer to me, so that was nice. Harvard can set you for life, and Northeastern offered me a while ago, so it was good to see it in person." He listed Texas Christian, Bradley, Florida State, Boston College, Indiana State, Pepperdine, Cal Poly, UAB, Sam Houston State, Akron, NIU, UIC, Northeastern, and Harvard among the schools that are recruiting him and noted that he doesn't have a leader at this point.

Sai Tummala (Brophy Prep) Phoenix, AZ, 6-7, F, told Arizona Preps that his list of college suitors includes, Pacific, Pepperdine, Santa Clara, Dartmouth, Harvard, Columbia, Loyola Marymount, UC-Santa Barbara and Cal Poly SLO. reports that Brian Sullivan (Upper Arlington HS) Arlington, OH, 6-1, G, has a list of Miami (OH), Northeastern, Cornell, Princeton, Bucknell, Davidson, William and Mary, Boston College, and Western Carolina.

The Atlanta Journal Constitution reports that Malcolm Brogdon (Atlanta Christian HS) Atlanta, GA, 6-5, F, has interest from Georgia, Clemson, Butler, Florida, Harvard, Boston College and Wake Forest.
