Cornell Basketball Announces 2010-11 Schedule

* 2010-11 Cornell Men's Basketball Schedule

ITHACA, N.Y. -- Fresh off the program's third consecutive Ivy League championship and first-ever NCAA tournament Sweet 16 appearance, the Cornell men's basketball team will face nine teams that reached the postseason last year during its 2010-11 schedule. Head coach Bill Courtney will open his first season as head coach when the Big Red opens the campaign at Albany on Friday, Nov. 12 at SEFCU Arena.

Among the teams with instant name recognition on the schedule are 2009-10 NCAA tournament foe Minnesota (Dec. 4) and NIT participant Seton Hall (Nov. 14). Another game against a Big East team will be announced in the coming weeks. Atlantic 10 opponent St. Bonaventure (Nov. 19) highlights a 12-game home schedule that also features contests against Delaware (Nov. 17), Bucknell (Courtney's alma mater, Dec. 20), Buffalo (Jan. 3) and defending America East regular season champion Stony Brook (Jan. 8).

Cornell will open its home season when it meets Delaware on Wednesday, Nov. 17 at Newman Arena at Bartels Hall. Other non-conference highlights include games at 2009-10 postseason opponents Lehigh (NCAA, Nov. 22) and Boston University (CBI, Nov. 27) and a holiday tournament at Virginia Commonwealth, a CBI squad a year ago, on Dec. 29-30.

After one of the greatest seasons in recent Ivy history a year ago with three postseason and 20-win squads, Cornell will attempt to capture a fourth straight NCAA bid beginning with a contest at Columbia on Jan. 15, 2011 in New York City. The Big Red will return home the following weekend for the Ivy home opener vs. the Lions the following week. CBI participant Princeton will head to Newman Arena on Feb. 12, while CIT participant Harvard will play the Big Red in Ithaca on Feb. 18.

Assuming that the 1 remaining Big East game is Syracuse?

Hope so, it would be sad to see it go after 30+ years. Then again, we are like 0fur30......

I'm still pissed that they're not paying in the holiday classic at MSG this year. That's really BS that we win the thing last year and don't get to go back. Not right.

I bet the unnamed Big East opponent will not be Syracuse. I would think that a game with the Orange would have fallen into place already if it were going to happen. I hope I'm wrong. I remember the good old days when the Red BEAT the Orange with some regularity.

Why is the Seton Hall game on campus and not in Newark at the Pru?

That kinda stinks

Location is TBA, and will likely be at the Pru.

Oh good news on the TBD... just saw that the athletics website says South Orange, NJ (campus) rather than Newark, NY (Pru)
