News and Notes: Evening Edition

Below, some news and notes for the evening...
  • Jason Hartford ('08) has returned to Portugal to play with Casino Ginasio as announced by the LBP, the Portuquese premier basketball league. He appeared in 10 games with the club a year ago after playing the majority of the year in Africa. He averaged 17.2 points per game for Ginasio in his 10 games with team.
  • Lehigh finally released its upcoming schedule and noted in its press release, "After a trip to Monmouth, [the Mountain Hawks] return to Stabler Arena on Nov. 22 for a much-anticipated matchup against defending Ivy League Champion and Sweet 16 participant Cornell."
  • Andy Noel, Cornell's Director of Athletics, shared his thoughts on the hiring of Bill Courtney as head coach of Cornell men's basketball with the fall edition of Spirit Magazine.
  • Israel Sports Radio has a poll for the Best Off Season Signing in the BSL (Israeli premier basketball league). Jon Jaques ('10) is a nominee.

freshman year, I used to refer to him as "Jason Fatford". He really trimmed up over the years.

As solid as J-Hart was in college at Cornell, he is a much better pro player.

Fans tend to forget his perpetual injury/health issues while in college.

Now healthy, he is having a terrific pro career and moving up the ranks in level of competition.

His emergence as a 5th year senior gave Cornell the necessary depth to win the 2008 title.

Yes, there is little doubt that the 2008-09 team, that lost three more league games than the previous year, missed JHart on the boards.

The threesome of Tyler, Hartford, and Foote upfront was a real key to that memorable league-unbeaten season.
