News and Notes: Thursday Edition

Above, Mark Coury from his days as a high school player in Detroit, to his time at the University of Kentucky, through his appearance in the Sweet Sixteen with Cornell against his former school. Below, some news and notes for Thursday...
  • In previewing the ACC, the ESPN College Basketball Nation Blog writes with respect to Boston College, "Best case: Most programs with new coaches get a year or three to figure things out. Boston College will not want to wait that long. New coach Steve Donahue -- fresh off a Sweet 16 run with Cornell -- inherits former coach Al Skinner's expectations. Fortunately, he also inherits some talent."
  • The Pioneer Press notes, "Eden Prairie High and Cornell grad Ryan Wittman, son of ex-Wolves coach Randy Wittman and a 2006 Mr. Basketball Minnesota finalist, has signed with the Forli team in Italy." Similarly, the Harvard Crimson also reports, "Former Cornell sharpshooter Ryan Wittman has signed on with the Italian club Fulgor Libertas Forli."

Was he more ripped at Kentucky than he is now? If so, quite disappointing. He looks like an absolute beast in the UK photo.

Shawn Oliverson was a better Napoleon Dynamite lookalike than Mark Coury.
