A Date in Cornell Basketball History

A reader's comment reminded us of another memorable Date in Cornell Basketball History, December 21, 1967. In front of a sold out 7,500 fans in Barton Hall, Cornell defeated Niagara, 84-78, but future Hall of Famer, Calvin Murphy was nearly unstoppable for the Eagles, pouring in 42 points. Above, the January 29, 1968 issue of the Cornell Daily Sun recaps the win as well as some other games from the winter break period.

As an Ithaca native and long-time Cornell basketball fan, I remember attending the game while home for vacation from law school. My lasting memory of the game was seeing Calvin twirl that batons, he was very skilled at it, during half-time.
