To the point

The Orange received some key contributions from its freshmen against Georgia Tech on Saturday night. The next thing SU needs from its rookies is consistency.

Three points

• Syracuse has played more games against Cornell (117) than any other school except Colgate (162). The second game in Syracuse history was an 18-15 win over the Big Red on Feb. 16, 1901.

• Cornell junior Drew Ferry spent his freshman year at Valparaiso before transferring to Palm Beach State College where he made 105 3-pointers last season.

• Cornell senior Mark Coury, who originally signed with Kentucky, is a Michigan native. He went to Detroit Country Day, the same high school that current SU sophomore DaShonte Riley attended.

Who's hot

Kris Joseph averaged a mere 11.3 points in SU’s first four games. He erupted with 22 points against Michigan and came back with 19 against Georgia Tech. His 17-point second half keyed the win over the Yellow Jackets.

An assistant coach familiar with Cornell provided an “On the Court” tip as well as a rundown on the Big Red’s starters and bench.
