The Cornell-Minnesota Series

Below, a look back on the Cornell-Minnesota series... The teams meet again on Saturday, December 4.

Above, the February 1, 1904 issue of the Cornell Daily Sun recaps the Big Red's 46-18 defeat to Minnesota on January 29, 1904. Minnesota was described as the "champions of the West."


Above, the Cornell Daily Sun recaps the Big Red's December 26, 1963, 89-77 defeat to the Gophers in the opening round of ECAC Holiday Festival in Madison Square Garden.

Above, the January 3, 1966 issue of the Cornell Daily Sun recaps Cornell's narrow 84-82 defeat to 9th ranked Minnesota in the opening round of Quaker City Tournament in Philadelphia on December 27, 1965.

Cornell and Minnesota would meet for the 4th time on December 30, 1976, but the Gophers were forced to forfeit their 84-54 victory over Cornell for the use of an ineligible player. Minnesota was No. 13 in the country that year and finished the season 24-3 prior to the imposed forfeits.

Cornell's 5th meeting and most recent meeting with Minnesota was December 6, 2008, a 71-54 Gopher victory in Minneapolis.
