Wroblewski had 14 points and six assists with two steals. … Cornell won two of its first three games this season, against Albany and Delaware, but has lost eight straight since. … Wofford's loss Wednesday night against home team Virginia Commonwealth was the Terriers' first game since a 79-65 home win Dec. 18 against High Point. … VCU plays New Hampshire in the 7:30 p.m. championship game on Thursday.

  • Future Cornell guard, Galal Cancer (Christian Brothers Academy) Albany, NY, 6-2, scored 20 points last night to lead all scorers and his club to a 68-53 win over Middletown. See the brief recap at the Troy Record. Meanwhile, at the McClintock Holiday Shootout in Arizona, Marcos De Niza beat Willow Canyon 66-60, but future Cornell post player, Deion Giddens (Willow Canyon HS) Carefree, AZ, 6-9, C, scored 16 points.
  • The Associated Press reports that Washington Wizards head coach Flip Saunders missed the Wizard's game last night to be with his ailing mother while assistant coach Randy Wittmann filled in. Wittmann, who's been an NBA head coach with Cleveland and Minnesota, is the father of Cornell's Ryan Wittman ('10). During the post game press conference, the A.P. report, "Wittman laughed when asked if in his temporary job, he would consider signing his son Ryan, who played with Cornell when they reached the Sweet 16 in last March's NCAA tournament. Ryan Wittman is playing professionally in Europe. 'That's not a bad idea. I didn't think of that. He's on a plane back to Italy right now,' Wittman said."
  • Cornell RPI Watch: The RPI (Rating Percentage Index) is a measure of strength of schedule and how a team does against that schedule. It does not consider the margin of victory, but only whether or not a team won and where the game was played (home/away/neutral court). The formula is 25% team winning percentage (WP), 50% opponents' average winning percentage (OWP), and 25% opponents' opponents' average winning percentage (OOWP). (See: CollegeRPI.com for a further explanation of the formula.) The RPI may be the most influential factor in NCAA Tournament seeding. Cornell's RPI rank as of December 30 is No. 242 out of 347 total Division I teams. While neither the Ken Pomeroy or Jeff Sagarin rankings are used by the NCAA Tournament Selection Committee, the KenPom.com site ranks Cornell No. 206 in the nation, while the USA Today Sagarin rankings have Cornell at No. 215. Both sites are predominantly used by fans and the media.
