We omitted to mention here on The Cornell Basketball Blog last Saturday that Cornell's meeting with Minnesota also included a reunion of a player and coach. Minnesota's head coach, Tubby Smith, a former Kentucky coach, recruited Mark Coury to Lexington out of Detroit Country Day High School. Coury played the 2006-2007 season at UK under Smith, initially as a walk-on and then later was rewarded with a scholarship his second semester of his freshman year by Smith. Subsequently, Smith left Kentucky at the end of the '06-'07 season and was replaced by Billy Gillespie. Coury transferred to Cornell following the 2007-2008 campaign, his sophomore season. Below, the 2006-2007 Kentucky team photo with Coury (42) and Tubby Smith.
