Origins of the Cornell-Columbia Series

Above, the February 2, 1903 issue of the Cornell Daily Sun briefly recaps Cornell's 29-13 defeat to Columbia on January 16, 1903. It was the first official meeting between Columbia and Cornell on the hardwood. The 1902-1903 season was Cornell's fifth official season in program history. The series continues next weekend in the Ivy League opener for both teams.

Cornell has taken eleven in a row from the Lions. One has to think that they are going to be unusually hungry for a win Saturday at their place.

This is the closest the teams have been matched in six years.
