Recruiting News: Columbia Adds Recruit (UPDATED)

Below, some recruiting updates from around the Ivy League.

Class of 2011 Recruiting News


Darius Stevens (La Lumiere Prep) LaPorte, IN, 6-6, F, has committed to Columbia University today.

Class of 2012 Recruiting News

The Columbia Lions are also recruiting a wing for the class of 2012, Callum Long (Flagstaff HS) Flagstaff, AZ, 6-5, G. According to ArizonaPreps.com, Columbia offered Long a roster spot in late April after evaluating him at an open gym. Long's grandfather attended Columbia and Callum is contemplating making an early commitment to the Lions.

Tyrone Wallace (Bakersfield HS) Bakersfield, CA, 6-4, G has scholarship offers on the table, according to Scout.com, from Arizona State, California, Colorado, Florida State, Fresno State, Gonzaga, Nevada, Oregon, San Diego State, San Francisco, UNLV and Utah. He told Scout.com, "I think UCLA might offer. They're recruiting pretty tough. "I'm also being recruited by Pennsylvania, Harvard and Stanford."

Darian Nelson-Henry (Lake Washington HS) Kirkland, WA, 6-10 told Scout.com, "I just started hearing from Penn lately. The schools that were out to see me at open gym were Washington State, Cal, Gonzaga, Santa Clara, Boise State and Nevada. I'm still talking to Stanford and I was talking a lot with Utah before the staff was fired." He added, "Penn has basically offered, but they have to wait for my SAT scores. Gonzaga and Boise State have offered. Santa Clara has pretty much offered as well. On his timetable he added, "I'd like to decide by September of my senior year. I want to see which offers are on the table at the end of July, then I will cut down my list to five." Nelson-Henry said he has a 3.2 GPA.

According to Scout.com, Arnaud Morto (Episcopal HS) Alexandria, VA, 6-7, F, has offers from Missouri, Seton Hall, Cincinnati, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest and is fielding interest from Harvard.

Recruit Scoop noted that Donavan Jack (Central Catholic HS) Reading, PA, 6-9, C, visited Harvard this week. Jack is receiving varying levels of interest throughout the Ivy League, including from Cornell. He has offers from Duquesne, George Mason (pre-coaching change), Bucknell, Holy Cross, Lafayette, and Vermont.

Class of 2013 Recruiting News

Nate Taphorn (Pekin HS) Pekin, IL, 6-6, G, who plays for the Illinois Wolves AAU team recently told Rivals.com that he has heard from Northwestern, Michigan, Illinois, Boston College, Yale and Cal-Irvine.
