News and Notes: Tuesday Edition

  • WBNG CBS News of Binghamton profiles the offerings of Ithaca, New York and notes that the Cornell men's basketball team is among the varsity athletic programs offering a summer camp. "They might see them [the players and coaches who are camp counselors] on TV and then be on the field with them [at the camp]. If the participants are older, they can see what Cornell is like as a college. If they are younger, they get that neat experience to play on some top Division I facilities," said Kath Fenzel, Cornell Sports School Director. Cornell Basketball's Elite Prospect Camp will be held on June 25-26.
  • A standout female basketball player from Staten Island has committed to Cornell according to the State Island Advance but plans an offseason surgery on an ACL injury before her arrival. "How can you argue [with Christine Kline's choice to go to Cornell]?" said Staten Island's St. Peter's High School girl's basketball coach coach Bob Daggett of Kline. "It's a great opportunity to go to a great school." "I've always wanted to play Division I basketball, but if it doesn't work out, I'll be happy just getting a good education," said Kline,
