Class of 2012 Recruiting News

It is camp season for recruiting targets. Below is a listing of the dates of the competing Ivy League basketball camps which typically jockey for position in inviting the top Ivy League prospects.
  • Yale June 3-5
  • Princeton June 12-14
  • Penn June 17-19
  • Columbia (Session 1 - June 17-19, Session 2 - June 19-21)
  • Brown June 23-25
  • Cornell June 25-26
  • Harvard June 25-27
  • Dartmouth June 27-30
And when you are talking Ivy League prospect camps, you can count on a few Northfield Mount Hermon School (Northfield, MA) Hogger players to be in attendance. At Yale this weekend is Lucas Van Ness (Northfield Mt. Hermon School) Northfield, MA, 6-10, C, Sam Donahue (Northfield Mt. Hermon School) Northfield, MA, 6-0, G and Will DeFanti (Northfield Mt. Hermon School) Northfield, MA, 5-10, G. The latter two are cousins and members of the class of 2013. Van Ness is class of 2012. Northfield Mount Hermon will have an incredible 11 former players on Ivy League rosters next year, including Cornell's Pete McMillan.

With the Pangos All-American Camp and several other major exposure events taking off in the last week, several elite Ivy prospects updated their recruiting situations to the major national recruiting services such as,, and ESPN/ScoutsInc.

Hans Brase (Hill School) Pottstown, PA, 6-8, F has offers from Penn, Princeton, Lafayette, Presbyterian, UNC Greensboro and North Florida, but said he is also hearing from Clemson, Appalachian State, Stanford, Harvard, Rice and Northwestern. His top five includes Princeton, Harvard, Stanford, Northwestern and Rice. Last summer he indicated he was hearing from Cornell, Dartmouth and Davidson.

Taylor Luster (North Cowley HS) Ft. Worth, TX, 5-10, G, has an offer from Texas-Antonio and is on the radar screens of Cornell, Princeton, Yale, Missouri State and San Francisco.

Lorenzo Cugini (St. Vincent-St. Mary's HS) Akron, OH, 6-5, G, is hearing from Akron, Bowling Green, Central Michigan, Cornell, Columbia, Dayton, Kent State, Mount St. Mary's, Northern Illinois, and Stanford, but has not had an offer extended yet.

Steve Haney (Eastern HS) Lansing, MI, 6-6, F, has interest but no offers from Harvard, Detroit, Tennessee, Notre Dame, Boston College, Michigan State, Michigan, DePaul and Miami.

Landen Lucas (Findlay Prep) Las Vegas, NV, 6-8, F, has offers from Harvard, Stanford, Georgetown, Arizona, Cal, Oregon, Oregon State, Portland State, Vanderbilt, USC, Utah State, Washington, and Washington State. He previously unofficially visited Harvard.

Sanjay Lumpkin (Benilde-St. Margaret's HS) St. Louis Park, MN, 6-5, F has offers from Princeton, Northwestern, Santa Clara, Holy Cross, Drake, and Indiana State, but noted that he is starting to gain increasing interest from numerous BCS conference schools. He said, “I have talked a lot with Illinois, Washington State, Notre Dame, and Boston College.”

Darren Payen (Hamden Hall Country Day School) Hamden, CT, 6-7, F is drawing interest from Yale, St. Francis, and Bucknell.

Mike Hall (Woodward Academy) College Park, GA, 6-10, C, said he has offers from Oklahoma State, Florida State, Ole Miss, George Mason, Furman, Fairfield, Tennessee Tech, Georgia State, and Georgia Southern and indicated some newer schools in his recruitment included Georgia Tech, Harvard and South Carolina.

David Andoh (St. Mary's HS) Berkley, CA, 6-6, F, indicated he has offers from Colorado, Santa Clara and Penn but noted his favorite is Colorado. Other interest includes Washington State, Utah, USC and Arizona.

Zena Edosomwan (Harvard-Westlake HS) North Hollywood, CA, 6-7 F, has offers from Colorado, USC, Fresno State and Harvard but noted that he is starting to hear more and more from Virginia Tech, Washington, Vanderbilt, Texas and Washington State. Stanford is also evaluating him.

Dominic Artis (Salesian HS) Vallejo, CA, 5-9, G, has a list of schools of interest to include Oregon, Cal, Washington State, Nevada, Florida International, Florida State, Colorado and Stanford. He previously mentioned Ivy schools, but they may be falling out of the picture.

Another high major west coast talent with earlier Ivy interest is Richard Longus (Bishop O'Dowd HS) Oakland, CA, 6-6, F. He is presently considering San Diego State, UCLA, Cal, Stanford, St. Mary’s, Colorado, Texas, Washington, Gonzaga, UNLV, Santa Clara and New Mexico.

Mike Gesell (Sioux City South HS) Sioux City, NE, 5-11, G, said he recently visited Stanford and received an offer. He's also got offers from Nebraska, Iowa, Creighton and Harvard.

Kale Abrahamson also visited Stanford and now has an offer. He is also rearing from Boston College, Florida State, Vanderbilt and Colorado in addition to Cornell and Harvard.

Class of 2013 Recruiting News

James Handot (Sacramento HS) Sacramento, CA, 6-6, F, has early interest from Cal, Northern Colorado, Portland, Washington State, and Yale.
