From our regular series, A Date in Cornell Basketball History, above the 1993-1994 University of Maryland Media Guide opponent section which previewed the Cornell Big Red. Cornell and Maryland have only met once in history, a November 27, 1993 game at Cole Fieldhouse which resulted in the Terps thumping Cornell, 92-41. Below is the Baltimore Sun's recap. The game was memorable for Maryland fans because it was Joe Smith's first ever game at Cole. Smith would later go on to win National Player of the Year in 1995 and was the No. 1 overall choice in the 1995 NBA Draft. Cornell returns to Maryland on January 3.
