News and Notes: Friday Edition

  • The Tillamook (Or.) Headlight Herald reports that Jason Hartford ('08) took home the championship medal in the Portland Trailblazers Three-On-Three Street Jam basketball tournament July 29-31 in Portland. Hartford (right) spent the last two season playing professional in Portugal for the Ginasio club.
  • Below is an updated transaction list for Cornell's alumni playing professionally:
-John McCord ('97) (SIG Strasbourg, Pro A France)-RETIRED after 2010-2011 season.
-Jeff Aubry ('99) (Halcones Rojos, LNBP Mexico/Arecibo Capitanes, BSN Puerto Rico). Expected to return to both clubs, Halcones and Arecibo in 2011-2012.
-Cody Toppert ('05) (Ourense, LEB Gold Spain 2nd division)-Signed 2011-2012 contract with Ourense after spending 2010-2011 with both the Plymouth Raiders (British Basketball League) and Forli (LegaDue Italy 2nd Division).
-Jason Hartford ('08) (Ginasio, LPD Portugal)-Has not signed yet for 2011-2012 season but could return to Portugal.
-Louis Dale ('10) (Gottingen, Bundesliga Germany)-Signed 2011-2012 contract for his second season with Goettingen.
-Ryan Wittman ('10) (Ft. Wayne Mad Ants, NBA D-League)-Unsigned, but expectation is for Wittman to return to Europe after spending 2011 in the NBA D-League.
-Jeff Foote ('10) (Maccabi Tel Aviv, Israel Winner's League/Zastal, PLK Poland)-On loan from Maccabi Tel Aviv, Foote spent last season with Melilla (LEB Gold Spain 2nd division). He recently singed a 2011-2012 contract with Zastal, the Polish club.
-Jon Jaques ('10) (Ashkelon, Israel Winner's League)-RETIRED following 2010-2011 season.
-Adam Wire ('11) (Vaerlose, BBK Denmark)-The 2011-2012 contract season will be his rookie year.
-Aaron Osgood ('11) (Vaerlose, BBK Denmark)-The 2011-2012 contract season will be his rookie year.

I had a lot of trouble finding Cornell recruiting targets on your site. Under 'ivy league recruiting targets' link there are no Cornell targets mentioned. Then after a while I found the Cornell targets under the 'Ivy league comittments' (deep in that section). The Cornell info should be easier to find and more intuitive on subject matter. This has been my only complaint of your site, thank you for all of the great info you provide.
