News and Notes: Wednesday Edition

Below, news and notes for Wednesday...

  • Assistant coach, Mike Blaine and the other Cornell coaches, Bill Courtney (head coach), Marlon Sears and Arlen Galloway, hit the recruiting trail today for the "live" period.
  • Shonn Miller lands on a banner image in Cornell's news release announcing that the Big Red's men's athletic teams finished 18th nationally in the Capital One Cup while the women finished 51st.
  • Ned Tomic was tabbed by the Akron-Canton AmPro as the Player of the Day after notching 30 points and 10 rebounds in a game.
  • Former Cornell player, Manny Sahota will continue his playing career elsewhere after sitting out two full seasons in Ithaca with a knee injury.  He is moving back to Canada and will enroll at the University of Toronto per Northpole Hoops and Sahota's high school, d'Youville.  Sahota is a native of nearby Brampton, Ontario and is the second former Cornell basketball player to "transfer" to the University of Toronto.  Sahota will team up with former Big Red player, Alex Hill, a native of Toronto, who made the move back home in 2008.
